AW13 – Hot new beauty trends!

As we all know the transitional period from the beach bronzed glow of summer skin to donning our winter coats and digging out our winter skin essentials is not fun for even the most organised of us.  The approach of Autumn, saw us welcome another busy but inspiring array of Fashion weeks!! New York, London, Milan & Paris all showcased wild and wonderful creations for AW13 and the beauty section was certainly no exception.
Eyes that glitter!Chanel showcased glitter eyes, now these were not just shimmer shadows but a whole lid of full on glitter!!! Perfect for the festive season which will surely be upon us before we know it.  Dior brought us various rich shades of pink lips; rather than a lipstick or gloss they preferred the look of a lip stain.  This look could easily work for any of us and is so versatile, there is most definitely a shade of pink for all of us, whether you are a girlie girl or not.
Grey smokey eyesSmokey eyes continue to be a staple trend among the catwalks.  From New York to Milan we saw designers choosing to make up their models with a grey shade hue smokey eye.  This look will never date and can take you from day to night time glamour with ease.  Using subtle shading of grey hues you can personalise this to taylor your look.  For drama add black shadow to bring out the pop of your green or blue eyes; or to play it safe stick to a light and dark shade of grey or brown for an understated look.
AW13 turns Burgundy...One colour showing through is Burgundy.  Burgundy was used by the designers to ‘Vamp’ up their models, from lips to nails this look really stood out as a key trend this season especially in London & Paris.
With thanks to Cara Delevingne; we still see a strong brow this season and picking out this feature whether blonde or dark haired will Brows...the bigger the better for AW13!!frame your face and finish off your look perfectly.  You needn’t perfect the ‘thicker’ brow to look well groomed, just ensure you emphasise your beautiful eyes by using a brow palette or ensuring your brows are plucked/treaded or waxed to prevent strays from ruining your ‘made up look’.
MAC - Black...but even better!!With regards to Nail Trends – Embellishments, lace, feathers & marbled effects were seen all across the catwalks for AW13.  Brands including CND, OPI, Nails Inc & Mac all jumped on this bandwagon and the results were amazing!!
Subtle & simple nails = Maximum impact
The nude nail has continued as a trend from Summer right through to Autumn with a ‘sand blasting’ effect being popular on the catwalks this season.
Many models were also seen with a clear or sheer pink nail with just a scattering of glitter on the nail tip or the cuticle. This look is very on trend and is something you can get the look with at home without too much cost or effort.  Jenny Packham used ‘Essie’s Set in Stones’ polish to get this look and layered the polish at the tip to create the glittered effect…this polish is now out of stock at most retailers due to the demand of this look being so effective!!!  Black is still black with MAC showcasing their take on this staple AW trend by adding a matte black polish with mesh veils, studs & lace overlays.
Whatever your style or beauty look the catwalks have a look for everyone!  Whether you like to take play with your style during the Winter months there is the new Burgundy to add to your shade palette or the numerous matte or leather look darker nail shades; or whether you prefer the muted/neutral tones you can emphasise your brows, play with the sheer/pink nails with glitter or add an extreme glitter shadow!!
All I know is that I am looking forward to experimenting with colour, embellishments & all the new exciting trends the AW13 catwalks….I will be encouraging my clients to all try at least one of the new trends.  Think outside the box and dare to be different, you never know….you may like it!!
